Dr. Rubin, who earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology, is the founder of the International Society for Autism (ISAresearch.org) and the CEO of New Directions for Young Adults. In this conversation, Andrew and Dr. Rubin explore his dedicated work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum and the impactful ways his nonprofit empowers young adults to gain independence, build fulfilling careers, and develop meaningful relationships.

Dr. Drew Rubin

Dr. Andrew Rubin, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of the International Society for Autism (ISAresearch.org) and New Directions for Young Adults. He integrates expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy, developmental theory, and neuropsychology into an evidence-based treatment model called Direction Therapy, designed for specific diagnoses. Dr. Rubin served on the Florida Board of Psychology (2013–2020), retiring as Chairman. Formerly the lead psychologist at Nova Southeastern University’s Unicorn Child Development Clinic, he supervised trainees and led parenting programs focused on behavior management and developmental disorders. He has also held academic roles at Tulane University and LSU Health Sciences Center, providing treatment and neuropsychological evaluations. Licensed in Florida, California, and New York, Dr. Rubin has extensive expertise in child development, infant mental health, psychopathology, assessment, and therapeutic interventions. He is a dedicated volunteer and lecturer at universities and in the community.
